Unto Us A Saviour Is Born!

May the God of hope fill you this day with the overflowing love of Jesus Christ the saviour which was born unto us in order to bear that which we could not bear, carry a burden we could not carry.

Jesus Christ born of a virgin, underestimated and overlooked, He was never given the respect He deserved and never felt the love He gave.

Yet, He gave us His all while we freely took it, He did not come to save us because we loved Him, or even that we deserved it.
He came to save us because He, in His very being is the manifestation of Love.
Not because we loved Him, but because He loved us is the reason for this season.

God, the good good Father that He is saw us with our backs turned toward Him and still He could not bear the fact that His creation rejected Him.

God, you see, does not need us nor our love, He wants it. He will not force us to love Him, He will not force us into His presence.
God loves us so much that He will submit to our will if we choose not to submit to His, if we decide we don’t need Him He will simply say “have it your way.”

He wants us to love Him, so much so that He came down and entered human history as a man so that He could say “it’s ok, I’ve made the way for you” all we need to do is accept this gift of salvation that was offered to us, with arms outstretched He hoped that we would take it. Alas a few lowly fishermen finally saw the Son for what He was, the living God of Abraham, the God that giveth not up on us but was willing to pay the price of that which we could not pay.

The creator of the heavens and the earth, the God who is much bigger and greater than our human minds can fathom loves us…. us, the overly prideful creatures that He could destroy just by saying it, He loves us the arrogant humans who think we can do this without Him, He loves us the sin indulgent, self gratifying people that we are, He loves us!

Why? I want to ask, would He love us? Since He gave us the garden we have been destroying His creation, why would He love us? We’ve rejected Him time and time again, we’ve turned to worship false gods, we’ve worshipped creation instead of the Creator.
Why? I ask again, would He even want anything to do with us? Just give us what we deserve and be done with us.
“No” said Jesus. “I will take what you deserve”

Lest we forget the true meaning of this season I propose we put down the drinks if only for a minute, forget about the presents and read with me if you will from what Linus from Charlie Brown’s Christmas says Christmas is all about…. Luke 2: 8-14.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

My prayer for you this Christmas is that you see it to be as joyous as it was for Mary and Joseph. They knew that Christ the Messiah was here, Love incarnate had arrived, God in the weakest of flesh, in the form of a human child is here! He aims to save us all, even if it takes His life.

Merry Christmas my Christian brothers and sisters, may peace be with you.
